Schedule & Format

Proposed schedules for LVI 2026 — power pools, crossovers, and brackets.

Target Schedule & Format

This is the proposed schedule assuming we hit our 16 team per division target. Historically the Women's division has been smaller, so in the likely event we don't hit this target, the schedule space will be distributed to Mixed or Men's.

Round timings are the same for any schedule, with Men's and Women's in the early rounds and Mixed in the later rounds (opposite of 2025).

Tournament Structure

The 16-team schedule has 4 pools: two power pools and two regular pools. The bottom two finishers in the power pools play a crossover against the top two finishers in the regular pools. Winners of the crossover join the top-two from each power pool in the championship bracket, and remaining teams go to a 9th-place bracket. Both brackets are single elimination — no backdoor games.

Saturday

Pool play, plus the Men's and Women's crossover games between the power pools and regular pools.

Sunday

Brackets for Men's and Women's, with a bye for Women's to fit the Mixed crossover, then the Mixed bracket.

Note: There is an option to move the Mixed crossover games to Saturday evening, which would end Saturday at 7:30 PM but move the Sunday end time up from 5:15 PM to 3:30 PM. Survey results indicated this may be preferred.

Alternate Schedule & Format

It is most likely that the Women's division does not meet the 16-team target, so we would move that capacity to another division while maintaining the power pool structure.

Men's Division (16 Teams)

Same 4-pool format: two power pools and two regular pools with crossovers and single-elimination brackets.

Women's Division (8 Teams)

Standard 8-team schedule: two pools and a bracket.

Mixed Division (20 Teams)

The Mixed division will add two pools. Depending on team strength distribution there are two options:

  • Option 1: A two-pool power group and a remaining four-pool group where first-place pool finishers play against 3rd/4th-place power pool teams in a crossover for the top bracket. Remaining teams are seeded into two 8-team brackets.
  • Option 2: Two, two-pool power groups with crossovers between the middle and remaining groups for seeding into championship and 9th-place brackets.

Both options have the same schedule windows for time at the fields.

Saturday

Pool play, plus the Men's crossover games. Men's and Women's remain in the early rounds, Mixed in the later rounds.

Sunday

Brackets for Men's and Women's, Mixed crossover in the second round, then Mixed brackets.
